Taj Mahal a Rajput Palace? This question relates to the legend of the
Taj as a Rajput palace. Many people, especially a group of Hindu
fundamentalists, believe that the Taj Mahal was not built by Shah Jahan.
As per their version, Taj Mahal was once a Rajput Palace, built in the
fourth century, and it was taken over by Shah Jahan and then remodeled
as the Taj. One such believer is Professor P.N. Oak of New Delhi who has
even mentioned this, so called, fact in his book on the Taj Mahal.
However, there are no evidences to prove this "Taj Mahal a Rajput
Palace" myth.
